Characteristics: Chokecherry is a large deciduous shrub or small tree (to 20 feet tall) producing long clusters of white flowers in racemes in spring. Fruits are produced in the fall are very astringent when not fully ripe but sweet and delicious when once ripened. Birds are very fond of the berries making this an excellent shrub to plant to attract birds. Foliage turns orange to red in fall.
