Characteristics: Large deciduous shrub or small tree (to 20 feet in height) with clusters of cream colored flowers in spring followed by edible purple berries in fall. Flowers are edible raw or cooked. A tea can be made from dried flowers. Berries are edible, when ripe, and can be used in portlike wine, jams and pies.
Cultivation: Grow in full sun with moderate moisture.
