Characteristics: Broadleaf Arnica is a perennial member of the sunflower family with brilliant yellow daisy-like flowers that are one to inches in diameter. Flowers are borne either singly or in small clusters on flower stems. This species blooms from May to August, depending upon elevation. Plants grow to one to two feet in height. This lovely species is common in our area, sometimes producing a carpet of yellow blooms. Plants are rhizomatous but not particularly invasive.
Cultivation: Broadleaf Arnica grows in full sun to part shade and prefers moderately moist, well drained soils.
