Characteristics:  Perennial member of the sunflower family with purple and yellow flowers.   Height to 2 feet.  Flower heads clustered at the ends of flower stems. 

Cultivation:  In the wild this species grows in subalpine and alpine meadows and it prefers moderately moist soil in full sun to part shade. This species is a spring blooming fleabane.

Native Range:  Western North America
