Characteristics: Bitterroot is the state flower of Montana and is a perennial wildflower with large pink blooms. It was collected during the Lewis and Clark Expedition hence the name of the Genus. Plants are small, with green succulent leaves, growing to 2 to 3 inches in height.
Cultivation: This species is very drought tolerant and prefers a gravelly rapidly draining soil. Allow plants to go dormant after blooming.
